Bad Bunny Copyright Infringement Lawsuit Moving Towards Settlement

bad bunny

The lawsuit that was filed in 2021 by AOM Music, Inc. that claims “Safaera” contained music from DJ Playero’s Playero mixtapes—specifically referencing “Besa Tu Cuerpo,” “Choca con Bicho,” and “Sigan Bailando” is heading towards a settlement.

Omar Merced, who is behind the lawsuit, has reportedly reached a preliminary “settlement in principle” with Bad Bunny and his collaborators on the “Safaera” track during a recent mediation session, according to Pitchfork.

An original draft of that settlement will now go through a rigorous review process with multiple corporate and individual parties, and with the conclusion of mediation a federal judge in California has suspended hearings for the case.

However, if a formal dismissal of the case isn’t filed by February 17th, then parties must report on the settlement process.
